Our Fort St. John location is seeking an experienced Fuel Truck Driver to support our diverse operations. This is a full-time position, working a rotation of four (4) days on, and three (3) days off.
Description:
The Truck Driver (Fuel) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional transportation, handling, and delivery of aviation fuel. The Truck Driver operates bulk fuel trucks, trailers, fueling equipment, and associated ground support equipment while ensuring compliance with transportation, environmental, safety, and fuel quality standards. Responsibilities include fuel transportation, aircraft refueling, customer service, equipment inspections, and completion of accurate operational documentation.
Responsibilities:
• Safely transport aviation fuel to customer locations and company facilities in accordance with all applicable transportation regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
• Operate bulk fuel trucks and trailers, including tri-quad configurations, in a safe and professional manner on highways, secondary roads, and remote access roads.
• Perform aircraft refueling activities, including fuel handling, fuel movement, fuel inventory control, and fuel quality control.
• Load, unload, transfer, and handle aviation fuel safely and efficiently while maintaining product quality standards.
• Conduct pre-trip, enroute, and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections and report deficiencies promptly.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, records, and documentation and comply with applicable Hours of Service regulations and Company requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation, environmental, safety, and fuel-handling regulations, including applicable Company policies and procedures.
• Maintain required certifications, licences, and operational qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Monitor fuel quality through required testing, inspections, and quality control procedures.
• Operate and maintain fueling equipment, pumps, storage facilities, vehicles, trailers, and other ground support equipment.
• Identify mechanical issues and communicate repair or maintenance requirements to management in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and general condition of fuel trucks, trailers, equipment, facilities, and work areas.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding deliveries, operational requirements, service schedules, and customer needs.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
• Participate in Company and customer safety programs, meetings, training initiatives, audits, and compliance activities.
• Follow all fuel handling, spill prevention, environmental protection, and emergency response procedures.
• Respond appropriately to fuel spills, incidents, emergencies, and other operational disruptions in accordance with Company procedures.
• Protect Company assets and ensure the security of fuel loads, vehicles, equipment, and inventory during transportation and at customer locations.
• Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently while working in remote or unsupervised environments.
• Manage work schedules, travel requirements, and driving activities in accordance with Company fatigue management practices and regulatory requirements.
• Work safely in varying weather conditions and remote locations as required.
• Travel and stay overnight away from home when operationally required, including the use of sleeper units where necessary.
• Provide exceptional customer service and represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Comply with and participate in the Company's Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Valid Class 1 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement and an acceptable Driver's Abstract, maintained throughout employment.
• Minimum three (3) years of commercial driving experience; experience operating combination vehicles and trailers is preferred.
• Experience working in fuel transportation, bulk hauling, aviation operations, oil and gas, or a related industry is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge of transportation safety regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain WHMIS certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Radio Operator Certificate.
• Strong understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and report equipment defects and maintenance requirements.
• Ability to read, understand, and complete operational documentation, inspection reports, and fuel records accurately.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with email, electronic reporting systems, and mobile devices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in remote work environments.
• Professional, dependable, punctual, and safety-focused.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, statutory holidays, and extended hours as operationally required.
• Ability to travel and stay overnight away from home as required.
• Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, kneeling, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
• Able to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive member of the EFC Team.
